Azad born in 1971 is a strong man. In this sentence there are two verbs one is a finite verb and the other is a non-finite verb. I could have discussed the topic like discussed in books but thought that this might not be helpful because it is very impractical. So, I discussed this topic for practical solution in my own way. If you can't understand don't stop. Keep reading. If you still have problems after reading this article, please comment under this post.

Definition of Finite and Non-Finite Verb:
Finite Verb:Finite verb is the verb with which a sentence is completed. In another way we can say that a verb that is influenced by tense, number and person is finite verb. In a clause there can be only one finite verb and more than one non-finite verb.
Non-Finite Verb:
Non-finite verb is the verb with which a sentence can't be completed. In another way we can say that a verb that is not influenced by tense, number and person is non-finite verb.
How to Identify Finite and Non-Finite Verbs:
- First forget about finite and non-finite verb. Think simply about simple sentence structure where is a subject and a main verb or acting main verb. When an auxiliary verb acts as a main verb, it is an acting main verb. For Example: Azad is a strong man.
- The main verb or acting main verb will represent the tense, number and person. There can be other verbs which will not be mandatory but will add additional information.
- Other verbs can be added in two different way.
- One is by creating a clause and other is creating a phrase. [When we create a clause we must have a subject and an independent verb. For example: Azad who was born in 1971 is a strong man. ( Who is the subject and was is the auxiliary verb and born is the main verb of the clause)]
- [2nd way is creating by a phrase. For example: By V+ing, V3 and To+Verb and there will be no subject for this verb but there will be extension. Azad born in 1971 is a strong man (born doesn't have any subject as we know a simple sentence will have only one finite verb. I have explained in this article later. This means born doesn't have any subject).
- The verb we added in 2nd way is the non-finite verb.
- You may think why we can't make born a finite verb and is a non-finite verb. I will give the explanation later]
Why Be Verb is the Finite Verb here:
To understand this explanation well you need to read my article about V+ing, V3 and To+Verb because you need to know the situation and the sense of these forms. To go to that article click this link. Now I will make both born and be verb a finite and a non-finite verb.
Making Born Finite Verb:
Azad was born in 1971 being a strong man. This means Azad was born as a strong man.
Making Be Verb a Finite Verb:
Azad born in 1971 is a strong man. This means Azad who was born in 1971 is currently a strong man.
I hope you have understand the change in meaning because of the change. As Azad wasn't born as a strong man, the first sentence is incorrect. So, be verb is the finite verb here.
End.
